This place offers an all-you-can-drink deal on beer and 'nihonshu' (Japanese rice wine), with a set meal included for just ¥6000! Upon entering, you'll have the bar rules explained to you by the young owner, Jun-chan, who insists that you call him by his first name (“Don't call me boss or chief, Jun-chan is fine”) and light-heartedly instructs you to “clear your empty bottles away yourself, OK?” The food consists of seasonal ingredients which have been carefully selected, procured, and prepared to go well with nihonshu. Every dish is absolutely delicious, but among the highlights are the “Namerou-style” minced Jack mackerel, which is prepared using innards and miso paste and goes perfectly with nihonshu, and homemade tofu served with “yuzu” (citrus fruit) salt. This is a formidable line-up of dishes created by people who know all there is to know about pairing food with alcohol. The earthenware pot rice is fluffy and soft, with a gleaming complexion, and tastes just wonderful - it's been a while since I ate white rice this good (try adding an egg for an exquisite egg-with-rice)! There's also a wide variety of types of nihonshu available on the all-you-can-drink menu. Who would've thought a place this much like heaven could actually exist?!
